Modifying File or Folder Permissions

To configure more advanced permission settings for individual users, you need to enable advanced folder permissions in Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders > Advanced Permissions.

  1. Open File Station.
  2. Locate the file or folder.
  3. Perform one of the following methods.

    Method

    Steps

    Using the toolbar

    1. Select the file or folder.

    2. Click .

    3. Select Properties.

    Using the context menu

    1. Right-click the file or folder.

    2. Select Properties.

    The Properties window opens.

  4. Click Permission.
  5. Enable or disable the following permissions for the owner, group, or other users on the list.

    Permission

    Description

    Read

    Allows a user to view the file or folder.

    Write

    Allows a user to make changes to the file or folder.

    Execute

    Allows a user to run a file.

    Note:

    You can only configure file or folder permissions for owners, groups, and other accounts under basic settings.

    Permission

    Description

    Read Only

    Allows a user to view the file or folder.

    Read/Write

    Allows a user to view and make changes to the file or folder.

    Deny

    Denies any access to the file or folder.

    Tip:

    You can click + to add users to the list and click - to remove users from the list.

  6. Optional: Select the access rights for guest users.
  7. Optional: Specify the ownership of the file or folder.
    1. Click .
    2. Select a user.
    3. Click Set.
  8. Optional: Enable one or more of the following settings.
    • Only the owner can delete the contents

    • Only admin can create files and folders

    • Apply changes to files and subfolders

    • Apply and replace all existing permissions of this folder, files, and subfolders

  9. Click Apply.
