Quality of Service (QoS)
Quality of service (QoS) improves network traffic shaping by classifying and prioritizing different network devices and packets.
You can configure QoS policies for QuWAN devices or segments and centrally manage the network bandwidth. Without QoS, network-critical and latency-sensitive applications and services must compete for the network bandwidth with low-priority traffic, resulting in data loss.

Service Class- and Weight Percentage-based Mapping for QoS
QoS policies use service class-mapping and percentage-mapping to manage network traffic congestion on all devices in an organization.
QuWAN Orchestrator provides nine default service classes based on traffic sharing similar packet priorities and network resource requirements. You can assign a percentage (byte count) for each service class to prioritize traffic queues.
- Log on to QuWAN Orchestrator.
- Select an organization.
- Go to Common Configuration > Segment.
- Locate QuWAN Service Class and Weight Percentage.
- Identify a service class.
-
Assign each service class a weight percentage.

Click the icon to remove byte counts from the service class.
- Click Apply.
-
Select the default service class.
Note:
If any undefined application, source or destination packet does not match a service class, it is classified into the specified default service class.
QuWAN Orchestrator updates the traffic mapping information for all the devices in the organization.
Make sure that you restart your QNAP routers after adding or modifying QoS rules.
